Urban Velo 19 is available for download or readable online, but don’t forget you can subscribe too… this issue features Denver’s Courier Veterans, Aiming for an Urban Cycling Mecca in Asheville, NC, Finders Keepers, I Love Riding in the City, Gallery: 2010 NAHBS, Residue, The End of Favoring Motorized Transportation, Red Hook Crit, The Lost Cyclist, Freewheel Removal, Get a Grip and Bicycle Helmet Evolution. Haven’t really read through the new issue yet, but one thing I did notice was the mention of my personal favorite bicycle grip instalation tool… spray paint. Give it a read…

Also velo named is the VeloCast which no has episode 74 available through their website or iTunes. As always, John and Scott have put together another great episode and don’t forget you can follow them on Twitter.

Lastly, if you’re planning on riding with us for Cinco de Mayo tomorrow keep in mind we’ll be leaving shortly after On Your Left closes, at 7pm.

VeloCast 72 is available and they we’re finally able to get that Liz Hatch interview squared away so give it a listen. If you somehow don’t know who Liz is then have a look see here, here, here or here.

Now someone is likely to get thier shit all in a stick about me talking about going all jihad on some women, but that’s not what I meant by that title at all. However, you are what you are so get your ass back in the kitchen. If you want to take it personally, have at it. Anywho, VeloCast 69 came out last week and apparently I missed the last 5 minutes of the show cause John made Fuck Gas his pick of the week, What better timing, Episode 69, Fuck Gas, meow now. I love that an episode that uses Lance Armstrong for the cover shot ends with this stupid website as a topic. I’m going to have to get over to Scotland soon and straighten those guys out. John and Scott are obviously as retarded as I am so it’s bound to be an adventure.

So being in the post bike theft slump I am, it seemed like a good tome to watch something interesting and hopefully amusing last night. Luckily, Netflix went and dropped “Fuck, A Documentary” in my mailbox just in time. It’s a few years old, but if you haven’t seen it yet, I’d say it’s worth a watch. I was just happy to see Janeane Garofalo talking like she does. Always a highlite.

Anyway, bike stuff… I don’t have much this fine gloomy Friday. I am on a quest to build up another steel around towner since some ghetto fucker ran off with the Surly. If any of you fine folks out there have any ins with the sort of companies that put out bikes and/or parts put in a good word for me. I’m broke and it’s hard to build a bike on the kind of budget that provides peanut butter and ramen on a regular basis. While working in a bike shop sure is fulfilling and enjoyable it doesn’t do a lot on the financial end.

If you’re the podcast listening sort, Scott and John have another episode of VeloCast available. Listen and enjoy my friends.

The University of Louisville sent Notre Dame home crying last night with a double overtime loss from the b-ball court… but in all honesty, I could really give a shit less. What has me excited about U of L is the plan, note that, “plan” to provide a free bicycle to students who opt out of purchasing a parking pass for two years and promise to ride to school. I went down there the other day to help out with the test rides and give the bikes a once over to make sure they were set to go… on a side note, apparently I’m an asshole cause there was a loose screw on a fender mount that I missed. Six bikes in a dark hallway with a handful of tools that I guessed I may need and I missed a fender mount, but I digress.

All seemed to go well and there looks to be a lot of interest in the program. There are 3 different models the students are testing out, 2 of which are single speeds, which appeared to be the favorite. Realistically, it also makes the most sense from a maintenance standpoint. Keeping that in mind, if the program is implemented the bikes will belong to the students and maintenance will be their problem, so giving them a bike with derailleurs could just turn into handing a student one more headache. Keep it simple.

U of L offering bicycles to students who say they’ll ride to school instead of drive is a great step in saying there will be bikes on the road. Watch the fuck out! Very nice, and thank you to the members of the administration that are heading this endeavor. Good work boys.

Finally, VeloCast 65 is available. Check it

I fucking HATE Winnie the Pooh. Thanks to a clever nickname by my parents I grew up despising the fat little bastard and all his pansy ass friends except for Rabbit, that dude seems alright. Anyway, it’s raining. Not sure how that affect tonight’s pedaling, but rest assured polo is gonna kill it. There’s a reason we play inside. Hope to see you all tonight!

Given you’re stuck inside for the morning and looking for something to occupy your time with, then check out Velocast 63. Always some entertaining and insightful conversation from those Scotts.

Lastly, I spotted this gem while browsing thru the pre-Stupor Bowl XIII preperations over at Bike Jerks. To me, this looks real. If you look closely, you can see tire marks on the wall leading to the bad ass (potentially broke ass) velodromer… anybody know if he pulled this shit?

Heard about the New Moto Show through the VeloCast, which you should be listening to by the way. Episode 52 is now available for download. Anyway, the New Moto Show. This is a 1 year car free project by the website design, video production, & photography studio i Moto Media. You can find a few of the videos they’ve made so far on their website and it certainly doesn’t hurt that Emily, half of i Moto, is quite easy on the eyes. Sorry Gabriel, it’s not that you’re unattractive, I’m just a bit more interested in looking at the ladies than the gentlemen. Check em out people.

Apparently we made onto VeloCast episode 48, of which I have not taken the time to listen to. This said, I have no idea if this is good, bad or indifferent. If you’re familiar with VeloCast let me know what you think and how the site came up in the show. I plan on sitting down and listening tonight, but who knows if that will actually happen. At any rate, thanks for the coverage guys!

Update: So I took the time tonight to give VeloCast a listen and I have to say I seriously enjoyed it. Turns out, John and Scott, the “VeloCasters” are out of Scotland and just recently started doing the show. I’m already a fan and will definitely be playing each new episode at work. They are producing some good entertaining cycling talk covering all the bases. Check them out at VeloCast.co.uk
