Get your ass to the Big Blue Country Bar & Grill tomorrow (Friday, 6/25) for the premier the new Cult video, Let ‘Em Talk. Also, this will be a double feature with ironically enough an S&M video showing right before hand. S&M video shows at 8pm with the Cult video getting started around 8:30. See you there and be sure to thanks Derek and Drew from On Your Left for putting this together..

I own various brands and styles of “athletic” socks as we’ll call them and I must say, they are all shit. That is, all except the Swiftwicks. These socks are by far the most amazing tubes of fiber I have ever pulled around my feet. I’ve been riding in them, running, playing soccer and even wearing them to the bar and drinking beer in them. Well, you know what I mean. Not as in they act as a pint glass and I pour my beer in the socks and drink it out, I just drink beer while wearing them on my feet…

Details on the socks go like this… they are fucking amazing! Go buy them! If you’re in Louisville, you can do this at On Your Left Cycles. Plain and simple. You get a choice of material as well. I run the Olefin ones as I just have a hard time with wool from the vegan standpoint… that said, Swiftwick does offer Merino as well. There are also several different lengths to choose from being zero, one (my favorites), four seven and twelve. Swiftwick also offers arm warmers and custom socks.

Lastly, Swiftwick offers that these will be the best socks you’ve ever wear, guaranteed. From their website:

Purchase a pair of Swiftwick socks and put us to the test. It’s the best performance sock you have ever worn, or we invite you to mail the laundered socks and request a replacement pair of equal value.

We want you to be happy!

We will send a pair of black or white socks to you, even if you request a competitor’s product (subject to availablility).

So, check them out. I know I’ll be buying a few new pair soon enough.

Well it’s official, I’m back on the wagon. Took an early morning mountain bike ride with Derek today and decided fuck it, I want some coffee after this. Probably been about six months since I’ve had a cup so we’ll see how sleep goes tonight. The trails were a bit sloppy in spots, but I honestly enjoy the mud. The thing that does suck about Cherokee right now is that it’s over grown as all get out. Derek and I both had some bloody arms thanks to the thorns. Of course his were a bit worse off than mine thanks to him playing trail guide. Thanks buddy!

Anywho, the coffee! Oh it’s so good and I’ve missed it so much. There’s just something about the stuff that goes so well with riding bicycles, especially these early morning rides. Additionally the coffee shop I go to always has cute girls on the other side of the counter, just a little bonus to my morning. Bicycles, coffee and beautiful ladies… I think I’ll have another cup.

Ride The Divide Movie Trailer from Ride The Divide on Vimeo.

This thing better have one hell of an ending cause that trailer is depressing as all fuck. Either way, I can’t wait to see it.

If you remember a while back I posted another mountain bike trailer for Follow Me. Well, it’s out and On Your Left will be holding a showing tomorrow night, that’s Friday, May 21 for you calendarless folk out there. This happens at (in your best Kentucky accent) Big Blue Sports Bar and Grill. Given you need a reminder, which i can only assume you do seeing that you’re mind is mush enough to keep coming back here and reading this crap, here you go…

Follow Me - Anthill Films - OFFICIAL 2010 MTB Trailer from vas entertainment on Vimeo.

If you haven’t heard, Landis finally admitted to doping on the Tour and noted Armstrong is as well. I’ve pretty much decided I’m tired of hearing about who is and may be. I’m over it.

Yeah, I said it. Derby was just here, not that it’s ever anywhere else, but Louisville’s depraved 2 weeks are over and just like that the skies parted and it’s sunny and warm. If there was a god or mother nature those fuckers sure as hell aren’t down with drunken debauchery. Luckily enough, those goons are just figments of a bunch of scaredy cats imaginations. Silly rabbit.

So, given you have a Netflix account, you should be adding “into the Wild” to it… or just download the stupid thing from a torrent site. What do I care? However, it’s an amazing movie. As well, say you have a bike, you should meet us, and by us I mean me and other weirdos on bikes, up at On your Left Cycles Wednesday night for the first annual “Cinco de Mayo Motherfucker!” ride. We’re heading over to La Rosita’s in the N’Albany for some burritos and tequilla. Although, to be perfectly honest I’m not even sure they serve liquor in that joint. Regardless, they claim it’s “the shortest trip to Mexico you’ll ever take” and that’s great for me cause I fucking hate road trips. Yeah, I said that too. Fuck it, spending endless hours in the seat of some ratty pile of shit you’re surprised even made it to the gas station just isn’t fun. Admit it.

Anywho… I’m listening to gangster rap and my knee hurts. I think it’s maybe seriously fucked up. Not that you care, I’m just whining really. “North Carolina, come on and raise up!” I probably did my worse impression of a karaoke singer last night too. Luckily that young lady I was drinking and having the conversation with earlier in the evening was long gone having sweet dreams of our future dinner date. At least that’s what I like to think.

Anyway, fuck it. Baby’s hungry.

On Your Left will be showing the new Animal video, Cuts, tonight at Big Blue Sports Bar and Grill (426 Baxter Ave) about 9pm. This is an all ages event and there will be prizes from Animal and Skavenger available. See you there kids!

Looks like another kick ass mountain bike video, hopefully On Your Left has a showing of this one too. I’d like to check it out. Derek, let me know and I’ll help spread the word. If you still haven’t been to On Your Left or a Fuck Gas ride, next Friday, April 23 would be a great time to check them both out. We’ll be meeting up at the shop at 618 Baxter Avenue about 8pm for a super out of the way, around town excursion (route map here) riding to the Swan Dive for Becca’s 1 year anniversary party. She’s offering up 25 cent PBR draft as well as some other yet to be named goodies. If you’re also curious what the Swan Dive is, well, it’s Louisville’s all vegetarian, generally vegan food and beer spot. Obviously, that would be a great night to check it out too. Hope to see some new faces.

This Sunday, April 18, The Freewheel Bike Collective is looking for some volunteers to help organize their existing inventory in preparation for next Sunday’s bike drive. The shop will be open from noon to 3pm and they could really use some assistance so please help if you can whether it be this Sunday or next. You can find them at 1101 S. 2nd St. (2nd and St. Catherine).

Finally, today is the city’s kick off to two weeks of partying leading up to the Kentucky Derby. Even if you don’t ride BMX and just want to enjoy watching some other people do it feel free to stop in at the Jeffersonville Trails (directions from the skatepark) today for the Thunder Over Louisville Trail Jam. Bikes, beer, friends and the cooker. If you’ve got a few bucks to donate to the cause that would be awesome too.

It’s Friday, beautiful and sunny at the moment but should turn to shit starting tomorrow… bike!bike! Southeast is this weekend with a kick off ride tonight leaving at 8pm from the First Unitarian Church or something to that effect. It’s at 809 S.4th St. and the ride will end at 1113 Logan St. Once there, the dance party goes into action with Mirage Montage, Bu Hao Ting, and DJ Kaboom. Sounds quite interesting. Add to that, a weekend full of workshops and things will hopefully make bike!bike! Southeast 2010 a success.

Tomorrow starts off with me having my head shaved for St. Baldrick’s (still time to donate!) and then directly after will be the opening party of the Bike Art Show at Liberty Tattoo and Art Parlor. Given the rain holds off, we’ll be riding from On Your Left Cycles (618 Baxter Avenue) at 7:30 and heading straight to Liberty (2801 S. 3rd Street) for the party.

Sunday is more bike!bike! action, but I’ve got soccer to play, so have fun and stay safe out there.

Liberty Tattoo & Art Parlor (2801 S 3rd Street) are hosting a bicycle related art exhibit so we’re riding to it from the usual host, On Your Left Cycles (618 Baxter Avenue).

Additionally, I’ll be having my head shaved at St. Baldrick’s (please help some kids out and donate here) earlier that day so come and check out my scarred up knoggin…

This all happens this Saturday, March 20 and we’ll be meeting at On Your Left about 7pm and leaving shortly after. Check out the Facebook event page here.

Hope to see everyone there!

Lexington will be hosting an event that has become increasingly popular thanks to a great idea by some London riders… The Tweed Ride. Lexington’s first goes down Saturday, March 13 at 2pm. Details can be found on the facebook of course.

Next up, Suzanne from Liberty Tattoo and Art Parlor says they’ll be taking submissions for the Bike Art Show until this Saturday, March 6. The show will run from march 10 through April 24 with the opening party officially happening Saturday March 20. Facebook it… I am working on a ride that night as well to coincide in which the normal shenanigans will likely take place… On Your Left Cycles, beers, bikes bros and hoes.

The same weekend as the Bike Art Show opening will be bike!bike! Southeast weekend here in the River City. Workshops and happenings are taking shape for the weekend and you can stay up to date over at their site.

Sooner rather than later, River City Cycling Society will be hosting their first real ride of the year, Gone With Thee Old Man Winter Ride. Looks to be a great 50+ miler this coming Sunday, March 7  with super good company. Make sure to go prepared, shit’s rural. Check them out.

Lastly, Utah is downright re-goddamn-diculous. Seriously, miscarriage is an offensible crime? That’s just fucked, but what else would you expect coming from a state run by a bunch of people that believe underwear is holy… Fucking kooks!

In local news, Ginny’s Diner and Pub duder, Frank Faris is being forced to give a dilapidated 19th-century house he owns next to his restaurant away FOR FREE! Apparently he originally bought it to make a parking lot, but then the neighborhood became a local preservation district so he wasn’t allowed to tear it down. He was then forced to sell the property to which he could not find a buyer or even a non-profit to take it. Read about it here. Please explain to me again how government is good… how this system works for you… government sucks and career politicians are shitting all over you. Wake the fuck up!
