It’s the Swan Dive’s 1st Birthday and we’re riding to the party from On Your Left Cycles (618 Baxter Avenue) and taking an insanely out of the way route through the city landing at The Swan Dive (921 Swan Street) for food, drinks and partyness.

Still need some incentive to come along for the party? How about PBR draft for a quarter! We will meet at On Your Left at 8pm and leave shortly after. If you can’t make it to the ride try and make it over to the Swan Dive for the party and enjoy cheap beer, great vegan food and awesome company.

Sunday, August 30 we’re heading out from On Your Left Cycles at 618 Baxter Avenue, through the city, Portland and the west end finally ending at Mike Lennig’s restaurant, 9308 Cane Run Rd. If you’re vegan or vegetarian, such as myself, eat before you leave cause I don’t think there’s a damned thing there for us but beer.

Either way it should be a kick ass ride and we’ll be utilizing whatever section of the infamous Louisville Loop that has been completed… I think.

A rough map can be found here.

As a side note, I know I said I wouldn’t be updating all weekend and for your information… I’m not! Thanks to the power of WordPress I can set date’s and times to which future posts will go live. If you haven’t looked into WordPress and you’re still using Blogger… get with the times!

The River City Cycling Society takes on what sounds like a true debacle of a ride, but sure to be loads of fun. Where The Heck Are We? takes off this Sunday from the Pilot truck stop at exit 92 on I-64 at 10am. Check out the RCCS site for additional info… keep in mind that Tim isn’t even sure some of this route takes place on actual roads. Sounds soooo good.

This is still a work in progress so bear with me… please note the date change.

Sunday, July 26

4pm

Meet at Hogan’s Fountain (Cherokee Park)

We’re looking at hitting 5 or 6 (maybe more?) of the public fountains through out Louisville, enjoying the water, drinking the beer, sweating our asses off and ending it with a cookout.

Map soon.

Still ironing out the details, but July’s ride goes down July 18 and will include many Louisville area fountains, a lot of beer, (at least) half naked bicyclists and end with a cook out. Get ready for Wet Hot American Bike Ride. Thanks to McCollum and Lacey for thier awesome ideas and the name. This one should be amazing. Stay tuned for more details.

Just a reminder that Friday, June 19 brings us what rumor has to be the biggest Fuck Gas ride to date… The Swan Dive Social. We’ll be taking a totally asinine route from On Your Left Cycles and turning what would normally be a half mile ride into almost 8. Come for the fun, come for the food, but just remember if you’re under 21… you have to stay on the sidewalk. Sorry.

Join us for a meandering cruise through the Highlands, Germantown, Schnitzelburg, St. Joseph, Old Louisville and Shelby Park to finally settle down and mingle at Germantown’s all vegetarian Swan Dive. Cold beer, hot food and friendly socializing abound. Don’t miss it!

Route map here… subject to change.

As always, we don’t give two shits what you’re riding, as long as your riding. Good people, good fun, riding bicycles. Enjoy.

The River City Cycling Society (RCCS) is hosting the Brew Tour this Saturday, February 21. The ride leaves from Sunergos Coffee (2122 S. Preston) at 12:30 pm and makes its way to the New Albanian Brewing Company in New Albany. After a close inspection, the route brings riders back into Louisville to the Bluegrass Brewing Companies downtown location on 4th Street and then heads up to the Highlands for some action at Cumberland Brews. From there the plan is to make it back to Sunergos for a total of 32 miles. Sounds like a good one.

There’s a new riding group in town and in looks to be a good one. Look for a flyer soon.

The River City Cycling Society invites you to its maiden voyage Sunday, January 25th, leaving from the playground lot (near the Great Lawn) on River Road at 11.00 a.m.  The ride has 20 and 30-mile options, rain or shine, sleet or snow (no ice).  This group is an effort to have a social, adventurous, and maybe even off-kilter riding experience here in the Louisville area.  The RCCS is not meant as a competitor to the LBC, but rather as an augmentation of our riding options here in town.  While this the first RCCS offering, the intention is that each ride include food, potential mixed routes, points of interest to explore, a casual/reasonable pace and an attitude of inclusion.  The only caveat is that there maybe be off-bike activities like hiking, so choose appropriate footwear.

Winter sucks - cold ass temperatures, grey skies and short days don’t exactly scream bike ride but what the hell do we care - we ride at night anyway and we own gloves and balaclavas! Come warm yourself up at On Your Left Cycles January 16th at 8pm for the Fuck Gas “We Don’t Give a Shit How Cold it is… Penguin Waddle.” We know you don’t want to be out there freezing your ass off for too long so seeing that January is the coldest month of the year on average here in Louisville, we’re making this one short.

Join us for an 8 mile loop starting and ending at On Your Left Cycles at 618 Baxter Avenue. You’ll also be able to enjoy some free hot coffee or even a cold beer - don’t be scared to bring your own though as the beer won’t last long. Finally, we’ll end the night with more freebies - a showing of the Mash SF video.

Support comes from Lattitude Zine, Shitluck Clothing, Liberty Tattoo & Art Parlor, On Your Left Cycles, Urban Velo.
