After wearing this jacket in all kinds of conditions over the last couple months it has really been a testament as to how wind affects my core temperature. The Bellwether Aqua No jacket is a super light weight, breathable, waterproof and windproof soft shell that simply kicks ass.

Overall construction consists of Zenith XT fabric (nylon) which maximizes breathability while the sealed seams keep moisture out. Added features include a drop tail and elastic drawstring waist to keep that slag tag covered, elastic and velcro cuffs at the wrists, extended track jacket style neck with an inner fleece lining, back pockets on each side, pit zips, and for visibility, a blinding yellow color with reflective piping.

First, let’s look at the wind resistance. The Aqua No jacket is by far the most wind resistant jacket I have ever owned. As I mentioned earlier it has truly been key in keeping me warm on winter rides. Lately I’ve only been running a long sleeved cotton t-shirt as a base layer and been totally comfortable in temperatures around 30 degrees (F). In colder weather I’ll generally wear a sweatshirt under it with no worries.

In the rain, the Aqua No is just as good at keeping me dry as well. The unique Zenith XT construction is great at keeping the rain out all while being breathable and allowing your evaporated sweat to escape. I’m no scientist, but the reading I’ve done points to the water droplet size. This meaning the big drops (rain) can’t make it through, but the little drops (evaporated sweat) can escape. Also, take the pit zips and vented back into account and you get a very comfortable level of air circulation all while staying warm and dry. Amazing, what will the think of next right?

As it turns out, I wear this thing riding everywhere, I’ve even played polo in it. It’s comfortable, light, bright and durable. I’ve had some run-ins with walls and even some scuffs with the sides of buses and trucks in traffic and so far so good. No tears. If you’re in the market for a rain jacket or just something to keep the wind off you then I would say have a look at the Bellwether Aqua No jacket. Online retail prices run about $90 and up and you can see it online at BellwetherClothing.com - don’t forget to tell them Fuck Gas sent you.
