I suppose if you’re looking at the possibility of getting your ass run over then yes… possible indeed! So Louisville ranked 7th in a new report by the Transportation for America and the Surface Transportation Policy Partnership. Dangerous by Design: Solving the Epidemic of Preventable Pedestrian Death (and Making Great Neighborhoods), ranks metropolitan areas based on the relative danger of walking. The report addresses the fact that nearly 5,000 people are killed every year on poorly designed roads. I don’t understand how this sort of thing is acceptable.

While I go around bitching about government and people want to give me this “who will build the roads” shit, this is going to start being my back up. Seriously, fuck these roads. I think it’s pretty obvious this shit isn’t working, but is it stopping? Hell no. Here in Louisville, we’re widening suburban arterials and becoming more and more geared towards auto dependency every day. Like John Wayne said about all those long hairs… “It’s gettin’ to be re-goddamn-diculous!”

At any rate, you can read the full report here.
