Archive for February, 2010

I just wanted to hand out a hardy, FUCK YOU to Chevrolet for their ad shitting on public transportation. I first spotted this one over at Copenhagenize to which I discovered they had found it at Urbanophile. Not that I would ever expect anything different from an automaker, let alone an advertising agency. Seriously goes to show the sick idea of the world around us that has been shoved down our throats since what must have been World War 2. This is part of what is wrong with modern society. These fucked up corporations coupled with government and anti-communal ideals that are tearing this place apart. Do yourself a favor, meet your neighbors, talk to a stranger, smile and say good morning. It’s not that hard people.

Oh man, I’m so pissed I’m missing this. Michael has an update going on over at Presta vs Schrader and you can see all sorts of detailed pics in his Flikr pool. Sooooooo goood. While it’s always hard to compete with the Speedvagen and Vanilla creations, this Bishop has stolen my heart. Fluted tubing, wishbone seatstay… I’m in love. Can’t wait to see what Erik from Peacock Groove hos going on.

Everyone’s favorite cycling beauty, Liz Hatch will be interviewed LIVE by John and Scoot from the VeloCast this coming Sunday, February 28th at 2pm Eastern time. Go to velocast.co.uk/live to check it out… and be nice you filthy bastards.

While we’re on the subject of the VeloCast, be sure to check out episode 66.

and Brad over at Urban Velo is already hard at work. Stay up to date with what there is to look at over at UrbanVelo.com while Brad does his best to capture all the bikes on display.

Holy shit this is a good one. Thanks to On Your Left for putting this one up.

More good stuff going on this weekend is NAHBS over in Richmond. Due to some last minute financial bullshit I won’t be making the trip this year, so enjoy it if you do.

Well obviously you could give a fuck less about anything else in the world if you drive or even like these monstrous vehicluar disasters, but GM says no more. After a deal with a Chinese automaker fell through yesterday, GM has decided to ax the Hummer brand. Thank you reality.

America has this habit of gluttony and I have to say it’s high time people wake the fuck up. I don’t care how many people lose their jobs over this, if you made these beasts for a living, you’re an asshole anyway. I don’t want to hear any of that, “gotta make a living” shit either. Grow some balls and have some morals you dicks. As for you, ViP Customz, you’re obviously a bunch of douche bags. Hell, you can’t even print your website correctly on your own car. It’s VipCustomz.NET, not COM.

You can read the CNN article here.

From Podium Insight:

Project Sport, LLC – producers of the San Francisco and San Rafael Twilight Criterium cycling races – announced today an agreement with the Sacramento Sports Commission and the Amgen Tour of California to present a professional criterium-style cycling race in conjunction with Stage 1 of the 2010 Tour, to be contested on the morning of May 16, 2010, just prior to the Tour’s opening stage arrival in Sacramento.

Now let’s just hope Versus actually broadcasts the crit racing. Seriously, it’s a hell of a lot more interesting than viewing stage races. Add women in the mix and you’ve got a win win for everyone!

Last and far from least, happy birthday to my daughter. She’s 9 today, although she tends to act more like 19… I love her none the less.

Thanks to Brev. M for making me aware of this one. Hopefully your computer gets along with Vimeo better than mine…

Regardless, this makes so much more sense than any of that fixed freestlye hokey pokey. My only real quam with the whole thing is the very beginning where we are informed of how long Hernan has been riding which ever discipline. I could really give a shit less how long he’s been riding any bike. All that matters is that he rides. I see this in the vegan/vegetarian community so much. “How long have you been vegan?” What’s it fucking matter? Isn’t it more important that I am?

It’s back! New Belgian Brewing’s Urban Assualt Ride dates have been released. Of course, it won’t be here in Louisville, but hopefully I can make it to one of the other fine cities to partake. Hopefully I’ll see you guys somewhere… check out UrbanAssaultRide.com for more info.

Liberty Tattoo & Art Parlor (website coming soon!) will be hosting a new show of bike art from March 10 to April 24. Opening party will be Saturday, March 20, the same weekend as Bike!Bike! Southeast here in Louisville. Gary and Suzanne are looking for additional submissions for the show and they’re open to anything whether it be photography, paintings, sculpture, furniture or something cool they don’t even know about. Also, the due date on the flyer of February 27 isn’t set in stone. If you get in contact with them you can work something else out I’m sure.

You can email them here, but you’re likely to do better by just calling the shop at 502-637-4777.

Additionally we’ll be organizing a ride of some sort for the opening night so stay tuned for that one and as always, if you’ve got any great ideas let me know.
