Not too sure on the details. actually I have none, but there’s a ride starting about 9am this morning from that Louisville coffee shop chain’s Eastern Parkway and Bardstown Road location. I got a text message about it at 11pm last night from Presta Vs Shrader and I’m going so we’ll see. After that it’s polo at noon over in tha hood, don’t be scared, it’s more fun than anything else you might have planned for today.

Get off the facebook and go ride you bike damn it! It’s a beautiful day.

Snagged to above from Urban Velo, thanks Brad and Jeff.

Not much happening in the Ville at the moment. Apparently Dirk, the pedestrian coordinator for the city has been absolutely flooded with bike rack requests for the Swan Dive. He emailed me asking everyone to stop, he only needs the request from the Swan Dive, all others just make his life harder. Hopefully I’ll get out and see some of you there tonight. If not tonight, be sure to make it out for the next Fuck gas ride, The Swan Dive Social. It will likely be all sorts of the fun. Bring on the beer.

Block Party on Baxter between Rogers and Payne Streets next Saturday, June 6. On Your Left will have ramps set up in the street for BMX trickery (maybe even some fixies too bro) and Spinellis will have all the pizza and beer you can handle. Come have fun in the sun… or rain.

Join us for a meandering cruise through the Highlands, Germantown, Schnitzelburg, St. Joseph, Old Louisville and Shelby Park to finally settle down and mingle at Germantown’s all vegetarian Swan Dive. Cold beer, hot food and friendly socializing abound. Don’t miss it!

Route map here… subject to change.

As always, we don’t give two shits what you’re riding, as long as your riding. Good people, good fun, riding bicycles. Enjoy.

While I’m really not a huge fan of either team, I was pleased to see Man U. go down to Barca 2 nil. Barca seriously controlled the game with goals in the 10th minute by Eto’o and 70th by Messi as well as frustrating the hell out of Ronaldo and Rooney. Ronaldo also took home a yellow card for repeated fouls on Poyou which in turn should do some good in settling the whole Ronaldo/Messi debate. Here’s to summer training, the MLS and hopefully Arsenal coming back next season stronger than ever… hopefully.

If you’re looking for bicycle news today is not the day - it was the Champions League for fucks sake! I’m seriously considering designating Wednesdays as soccer update day…

This sounds like a good one. Our friends over at Urban Velo are putting on a bike polo “tournament” up in Philly on the 4th of July. While you may have your own Sunday game on the 4th, this ones seems like a pretty good draw. An all day bracket tourney provides you to play everyone in attendance at least once… somehow. Check out PGHbikepolo.com for more info. Who’s in?

Speaking of polo - Lexington, KY is hosting the Bluegrass Sate Games next month and there will be a polo tournament. Tournament happens Saturday, June 25 and the online registration deadline happens July 22 - get on it and register here.

Our buddy Erik Noren over at Peacock Groove has been a busy man creating a long bike for one of his customers. As it turns out the front triangle is a Peacock Groove and the rear end is off an old Schwinn. Surprisingly the whole package is around 26 pounds. Looks good to me.

In news related to Fuck Gas - working on the next ride, mark your calendar for Friday, June 19, more details to follow. If you’re in Louisville, we’ll be at the shop all day today, Memorial Day, while everyone else on earth is out enjoying their day off. Come by and say hi while we stand here and look stupid….

In my recent musical disappointment (Green Day) there is new found excitement in that everyones favorite Irishmen, The Redneck Manifesto are writing new material to which they will hopefully be recording early next year…

From TRM:
Hello Everyone. It’s been a while since we’ve contacted the outside world, so we thought we’d give you an update on what we’ve been up to. We’re currently writing our next album which we hope to record early next year. We’re all very excited about what we’ve written so far and can’t wait to get into the studio again. We’ll try to keep you posted on what we’re up to a little more than we have in the past. We hope your all well. Take Care, TRM

That’s Louisville’s chubby mayor aside Subway’s skinny Jared in the midst of filming a commercial to promote said mayor/city’s “Healthy Hometown Subway Fresh Fit Hike & Bike.” Everything needs a sponsor right? Anywho, about that hikin and a bikin:

Waterfront Park

riding goes off at 10am

I’ll be at work.

It’s been a hard week for living around here. At any rate, the Ride of Silence went down last night and I must say it was much better last year before the Louisville Bicycle Club decided to take it over. This is just one more thing that offers itself as reason to dislike the LBC. The Ride of Silence has previously taken place with no sanctioning here in Louisville and now the LBC gets wind of it and decides to take it over with sign in sheets, route changes and instruction. As well, a group ride through downtown stopping at every light made for quite the cluster fuck. Pedal 1 block, listen to the sound of masses unclipping, green light, masses clip back in, repeat. Fuck off! On that note…

Dear LBC,

Lame.

Sincerely,
jimmy
